Our independent holiday home in Dordogne.
When we first discovered Oasis of Greenery in Périgord, we were instantly captivated by the breathtaking view—it truly took our breath away. It was love at first sight. Despite the house’s state of disrepair, which required a complete renovation, we knew right away that we wanted to bring it back to life and make it our home. We could already picture ourselves having breakfast overlooking the horizon, enjoying unforgettable sunsets, and spending peaceful moments in nature with our children, Léo and Clémentine. And who knows? Maybe one day, our grandchildren would grow up here, surrounded by the beauty of the countryside.
After purchasing the property, we embarked on three years of major construction work to transform this house into a true haven of peace. The original structure was completely redesigned: we raised and extended it to optimize space and fully embrace the stunning view. The roofs were entirely rebuilt with new openings, and we chose wood in the style of a traditional tobacco drying barn—an emblematic feature of the local rural heritage—while keeping environmental sustainability in mind. Naturally, we also excavated to create a swimming pool on the flat area, carefully positioning it to avoid disturbing the roots of the ancient oak tree.
Each season brought its own challenges and transformations, but we always kept our goal in mind: to create a place where we could all thrive together, in perfect harmony with the surrounding nature.
Perched on a hillside, Oasis of Greenery in Périgord offers a stunning 180° panorama over the rolling hills and the Caudeau Valley, (stream, tributary of the Dordogne). The view extends to the promontories of Montastruc and Bellegarde castles. Each season unveils a different spectacle, from the vibrant greens of spring to the golden hues of autumn, with morning mists adding a magical touch to the landscape. Every wall and every room has been carefully renovated, preserving the soul of the house while integrating modern comfort. Today, this home reflects our vision—where the landscape itself is a natural masterpiece, revealed through every window.
